Biography

Anne  Ffrench was born in 1980 in Co. Wexford, Ireland. She graduated with a Joint First Class Honors degree in Fine Art Sculpture and History of Art from NCAD (2004) and received a First Class Honors MA in Art Therapy (2010) She was co-founder of ‘The Pigeon House Studios’ Kinsale, (2010-2015) Anne currently lives in Ballinspittle, Co. Cork.

Work to date includes sculpture, performance, durational work, collaborative practice, large scale installations and film. Her artworks are strongly grounded by material enquiry, the physicality of objects and how they occupy a space. Ffrench learned how to spin yarn on a wheel for the purpose of spinning hair and became a beekeeper to make work with bees, honey and wax. She has acquired the skills of a taxidermist and tanned raw cowhides. Materials are always on their way to becoming something else. Integral to her art making is the practice of writing.
